HCM City triumphs at national drama festival
VietNamNet Bridge – HCM City’s Phu Nhuan Stage won two of the three gold medals at the National Drama Festival, which closed in HCM City on October 7.
The three gold medals were presented to “Magic Crossbow” and “Mother and Her Boyfriend” by the Phu Nhuan Stage and the Hanoi-based Vietnam Drama Theatre’s “Beauty and Hero”.
HCM City’s Duc Thinh won the Best Director title for work with “Magic Crossbow”. Another female actress and director from HCM City, Hanh Thuy, also received this title for “The Flow of Memoirs” based on a short story by famous writer Nguyen Ngoc Tu.
The organizing board also presented seven silver medals for dramas, 42 gold and 63 silver medals for individuals and five prizes for directors and composers.
Running from September 25 to October 6 in HCM City, the National Drama Festival gathered brought together18 professional theatres and staged 26 plays.
Held every five years, the festival is an opportunity for artists to showcase their talents and the development of their theatre groups.
