Flower Festival to celebrate Hanoi’s 1,000th anniversary

Da Lat Flower Festival 2007.
The festival, named “Da Lat-the Kingdom of Flowers”, will run from January 1-4, 2010. According to the organising board, there will be a giant flower vase styled from bronze drums to be carried by 1,000 Da Lat citizens and tourists.
This “living” vase will be organised on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street where there will also be a flower arranging competition.
Visitors will also have a chance to enjoy displays of flowers along the 25km highway to Lien Khuong airport. The organising board will reserve 4,000sq.m for flowers around Xuan Huong Lake, 9,500 sq.m for flowers in Bich Cau oasis and 3,500sq.m in the city’s flower garden.
On display will be flowers and trees from other countries, including China, Japan and the Netherlands.
In addition, there will be sports activities such as cycling, golf and mountain climbing.
The opening ceremony of the Da Lat Flower Festival 2010 will be held on the main stage near Xuan Huong Lake at 8pm on January 2 and it will be broadcast live on VTV1.
