Nude mother come on display in HCM City

Artist Rung next to his Nurturing Mother (Sweet Milk) on display at Tu Do Gallery in HCMC's District 1.
The exhibition features seven paintings depicting a nude mother bursting with vitality. The paintings represent seven stages of a woman's life, from youth in Young Mother (Eternal spring) to a shy and dreamy girl in Dreaming Mother (Star Struck), totalling in love in Love Mother (Lotus Incense), to pregnancy in Expecting Mother (Fertile Waist), to child birth in Filial Mother (Blissful Family), to nursing the baby with sweet milk in Nurturing Mother (Sweet Milk) to happiness with the kids in Spring Garden (Mother Meeting).
These tender works of art were made from synthetic materials and feast viewers with an art party of joyfulness, freshness and brilliance. The vivid colors of the stars, flowers, fruits, fields, rainbows, clouds and dreamscapes heat up the smooth lines of the female form.
Known as a painter of cosmic oriented dreamscapes that border on the psychedelic, Rung has this time exposed his inner emotions by thoroughly exploiting the ultimate creation of the Divine artistic hand that blessed the world with its most timeless work of art, the infinitely changeable and pleasing shapes of the human female.
"Vietnamese inherently used to contemplate images of simple and austere mothers. However, to me, without mother, there will not be human beings in the world. And in everyone's mind, mother's image always seems to be nicest, that's why I expose the mother at the most abundant period," said Rung.
When asked about the nudity, Rung revealed, "Why paint clothes, I just want to expose the beauty of women in nudity and I think they are worth admiring. I am inspired from an extremely real emotion about my admiration of the beauty of women and from my profound love and gratitude to mother. I do not mean my mother, but the mother in general."
Under Rung's brush, the beauty of mother seems to be considered the beauty of nature, amidst glistening stars, mysterious rainbow horizons and bright flowers and fresh fruits.
"Maybe this is the turning-point for Rung's art, younger and truer and more innocent," said a friend of Rung.
Born Nguyen Tuan Khanh in 1942, Rung has given nearly 30 exhibitions since 1960 in Vietnam and in the U.S.
