UNESCO to evaluate Thang Long Royal Citadel

Thang Long Royal Citdel.
Vietnam’s Thang Long Royal Citadel is one of the 33 nominees.
The committee will also evaluate the preservation of 147 heritages, including 31 in dangerous situation and 36 endangered works, which are threatened by pollution, urbanization, war, natural disasters and tourism exploitation.
UNESCO has recognized 890 world heritages, including 689 cultural, 176 natural and 25 combined heritages in 148 countries.
Vietnam has had nine world heritages recognized by the UNESCO, including:
Cultural and natural tangible heritages: Hue ancient capital city (1993), Ha Long Bay (recognized twice in 1994 and 2000 as natural and geological heritages), Hoi An ancient town (1999), My Son holy land (1999), Phong Nha-Ke Bang national park (2003).
Intangible heritages: Hue royal court music (2003), Central Highlands gong cultural space (2005), Bac Ninh love duet and Ca Tru (2009).
Vietnam’s nominees for world heritages which were rejected by the UNESCO: Huong pagoda (1991), Cuc Phuong national park (1991), ancient Hoa Lu capital (1991), Ba Be Lake (1997), and Sapa ancient rock field (1997).
By 2010, Vietnam has had the following nominees for world heritage title: Thang Long royal citadel, Ho dynasty citadel, ancient Hoa Lu capital, Huong pagoda, Sapa ancient rock field, Con Dao prison, Con Moong cave, Ha Long bay (third time), Trang An ecological zone, Cuc Phuong national park, Ba Be lake, Cat Tien national park, Giong Festival, xoan singing, southern amateur folk music.
