War keepsakes on display
Among them are bicycles used by General Nguyen Chi Thanh in the war of resistance against French colonists, a watch of President Le Duc Anh in 1964, the phone that General Vo Nguyen Giap used in 1968 and a gun used by General Pham Van Tra (former Minister of Defence) in the southwestern battlefield from 1970 to 1975.
Other items include the pilot helmet that the lieutenant general Nguyen Duc Soat, former vice chief of general staff of the Vietnam People’s Army used from 1969-197 and a sweater knitted by teacher Le Thi Bich Dao for her husband, hero Le Ma Luong.
However, the most special collection displayed at the exhibition is 91 swords and bronze drums from collector Duong Phu Hien, one of the biggest antique collector in Vietnam. He is now vice chairman of the UNESCO Association for Research and Collection of Antiques.
The exhibition will open until May 2010 at the Vietnam Military History Museum at 28A Dien Bien Phu, Hanoi.
